Osaka Gas Engineering awarded a contract for a new LNG terminal in Spain

Osaka Gas Engineering (OGE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Osaka Gas, in a consortium of European and Japanese firms, has been awarded a contract for design, engineering, and construction of a new LNG terminal in Sagunto, Spain.

Planta de Regasificacion de Sangunto, S.A., the owner and the promoter of the new terminal, awarded the contract to the consortium on February 27, 2003, consisting of five European and Japanese companies; ACS (a major general construction firm in Spain, and leader of the consortium), SENER (Spanish engineering firm), DYWIDAG (German civil engineering firm), TKK (Japanese LNG tank construction firm), and OGE.

The new LNG terminal project plans to build an LNG receiving facility in Sagunto, 50km north of Valencia, with a capacity of 3 million tons of LNG annually to be supplied from Egypt through a project promoted by Union Fenosa.

Within the consortium, OGE, backed by its rich expertise in engineering and maintenance of LNG terminals of Osaka Gas, will play an important role in providing services in check-and-review of basic and detail designs of the terminal as well as supervising and training for the start-up of the facilities .

The new terminal is scheduled commencement in March 2006.
