From November 8 to December 2, OGFICE held presentation ceremonies for Indonesian recipients of its grants.
Just as in fiscal 2020, the spread of COVID-19 prevented representatives from OGFICE from traveling to Indonesia to attend the ceremonies. Some of the presentation ceremonies were held online with the attendance of Chairman Tetsuo Setoguchi and Executive Director Yukiyoshi Fukano over the Internet. For grant recipients where presentation ceremonies were unable to be held online, the local staff member attended on behalf of the two executives.

Online presentation ceremonies took place at the University of Indonesia, the Bandung Institute of Technology, and Bogor Agricultural University, which all received research grants.
Researchers who had received a grant last fiscal year reported their research results. Researchers receiving the grant this fiscal year introduced their research projects. A lively question and answer session was held for each researcher.
In his speech at the online ceremonies Chairman Setoguchi said, "I hope you will make the best use of this grant to contribute to the development of Indonesia and its science and technology, and to international exchanges, including those between Indonesia and Japan."

Online presentation ceremonies could not be held at the other recipients: Mulawarman University, Syiah Kuala University, and the districts of Bontang and Banda Aceh . Instead, the local staff member visited them to read Chairman Setoguchi’s speech on his behalf and present the grant certificates.
The grant recipients expressed words of gratitude to OGFICE, including, "We are very grateful for your long years of support," "This support is very meaningful, and we are grateful for it. We would be very grateful if you could continue the support in the future," and "We are very grateful to you for visiting us amid the COVID pandemic."

This fiscal year, OGFICE gave grants worth about 10 million yen to Indonesian recipients.
The foundation is planning to provide a similar amount next fiscal year, too.
