Starting Service

How do I start gas service?
To begin gas service, please contact us via Residential Customer Form indicating that you wish to start gas service. To connect your home to our gas service, Osaka Gas will send a worker to your home. Please be home or have someone at your home for you at the time of worker's visit, which will be for just 15 to 20 minutes including a gas leak inspection and gas ingnition check.
When starting gas service, how long will the service visit take?
It normally takes just 15 to 20 minutes to complete the work to connect your home to our gas service while it might take a little longer depending on your meter situation.
Is it necessary to receive a visit of someone sent by Osaka Gas to come to my residence to start my service?
To connect your home to our gas service, Osaka Gas will send a worker to your home. Please be home or have someone at your home for you at the time of worker's visit, which will be for just 15 to 20 minutes including a gas leak inspection and gas ingnition check.

Moving Home

I am moving. Please tell me about the necessary procedure.
Osaka Gas will send a worker to your home for either starting gas service or stopping one.

When you wish to start service at a new residence, use the Start Service page.

When you wish to stop service at your current residence, use the Stop Service page.
When I request to stop gas service, why do I need to supply my new address?
When you request to end gas service, we will ask you to provide your new address in case we need to contact you regarding important matters such as your final gas bill, for example, after you move, there may still be a final gas bill for you to pay.
Can you turn off the gas service temporarily for a long period of time while I am absent from my residence?
Yes, it is possible.

Can I use the gas equipment I am currently using at my new residence?
To use your own gas equipment, you must make sure that it complies with the type of gas provided by Osaka Gas (13A).

When the gas equipment was used with a different type of gas, an adjustment is required.
Depending on the model, an adjustment may not be possible. Additionally, if the appliance is specifically meant for 50 Hertz, electrical parts may need to be changed. Please check the equipment's instruction manual for the type of gas and electrical frequency it is made for.

Stopping Service

How do I stop gas service?
To stop gas service, please contact us via Residential Customer Form indicating that you wish to stop gas service.

To disconnect your home from our gas service, Osaka Gas will send a worker to your home. Please be home or have someone at your home for you at the time of worker's visit if your residence has an auto-lock key or the gas meter is inside your home.
When stopping gas service, how long will I have to be home for the service visit?
If your equipment is accessible without a lock, then service will be stopped without you needing to be there. If your meter equipment is indoors or behind a lock-box, then you will need to be present for our technician to turn off service.
