Gas Safety Guide
Notice Privacy Policy

For the safe and secure use of gas and other products and services, we keep records of our customers' names, addresses, phone numbers, and other information we need to conduct business (hereafter referred to as "customer data"). We have set forth our policy on customer information as explained below, and your understanding and cooperation will help us in our efforts to adequately protect personal information.

‚P What Customer Data are Used for
Because our customers use gas, electricity, heat and other kinds of energy, we at Osaka Gas handle customer data either directly or through a subcontractor when we receive various kinds of applications, perform safety inspections, sell equipment, and execute construction works, and when we publish phone directories, residential maps, and other reference materials. These data are used for the following purposes.
(1) To supply energy and expand energy uses; (2) For energy supply equipment works; (3) For safety activities such as the repair, replacement, and inspection of energy supply equipment and energy-consuming equipment (kitchen appliances, hot water supply, air-conditioning, etc.); (4) To provide automatic leakage/fire notification systems, remote cut-off systems, and other services related to energy supply operations; (5) For the sales (including leases and rentals), installation, repair, inspection, product development, and after-sales service of energy-consuming equipment, alarms, and other equipment and household appliances; (6) To provide information and conduct public relations, surveys, data gathering and analysis, and research and development regarding services and products related to the above-mentioned operations;
(7) To execute work incidental to the activities described in items (1) to (6) above.
Also, in order to smoothly execute the above-mentioned duties, we may have to consign some tasks to outside sources such as financial institutions, credit card companies, convenience stores, debt collection agencies, data processing companies, and companies that work with us (service shops, construction companies, and so on). When this happens, we provide these subcontractors with the customer data they need to do their work. In these cases, we supervise their activities by means such as drawing up agreements with our subcontractors regarding the handling of customer data.

2Sharing of Customer DataSome customer data are shared as follows.
Shared customer data items Customer's name, address, phone number, and customer number; sales (including lease and rental) data, installation data, and repair history (repair contents, results, causes of breakdown) regarding supply equipment, gas equipment owned by the customer (including auxiliary equipment), and alarm devices (hereafter referred to as "gas appliances and related equipment").

Osaka Gas Service Shops, Osaka Gas Bath Shops, Osaka Gas Specialty Product Shops, Osaka Gas Air Conditioning Agents, Osaka Gas Air Conditioning Shops, Osaka Gas Air Conditioning Distributors, Osaka Gas Commercial Equipment Shops, Osaka Gas Maintenance Shops, companies working with us on gas development work, designated construction companies, authorized construction companies, gas equipment manufacturers and sellers, etc.
What data are used for Data gathering for safety and quality improvement of gas appliances and related equipment, sales (including leases and rentals), warranty and non-warranty repairs, the smooth execution of safety activities, and the settlement of credit sales/debts arising among common users of gas appliances and related equipment.

3Disclosure of Information
Requests for the disclosure of personal information that is part of our customer data can be made as follows.
Procedure for Requesting Information
Phone, write, or e-mail Osaka Gas according to the contact information given below. After confirming your identity (or that of your agent)*, we will respond to you in writing or by other suitable method that we mutually agree upon. Depending on the application contents, you may be asked to submit an Osaka Gas prescribed application form. It may take a few days for us to reply to your request. In the case of a written reply, you will be charged our specified fee. You will be provided with details regarding the procedure for requesting information when you submit your request.
* The following methods, among others, will be used to check your identity when you submit a request for personal information.
* Confirmation of name, address, phone number, and customer number as well as the bank account number used for bill payment, credit card number, and other information registered with Osaka Gas. * Having customer call back to a phone number registered with Osaka Gas. * Driver's license, passport, basic resident registration, insurance card, seal registration certificate, and other types of identification.
If the request is submitted by an agent acting on your behalf, we may ask you to submit a power of attorney or have the agent submit a power of attorney bearing your signature, or we may phone you to confirm the identity of your agent.

A Request
In order to confirm your identity when you request information by telephone, we may ask for information that only you can know [in accordance with the item marked with an asterisk (*) in Par. 3 above]. When making an inquiry by telephone, therefore, please have proof of your bill payment method on hand. Example: Account book or bank card, registered credit card, receipt of a previously paid gas bill, etc.
