Gas Transmission and Supply Technologies
- " ARGUS: Advanced Remote Guard System " -
Objective of Monitoring System
The gas transmission pipeline of Osaka Gas plays a crucial role in transmitting natural gas from two LNG terminals of Senboku and Himeji to the second densely populated area in Japan including Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe. The stations with important transmission facilities such as line valves and regulators are located along the pipelines at intervals of 4 - 8 km. Each station communicates with the control monitoring centers in the head office and the four local pipeline departments around-the-clock by radio in order to monitor the state of the operation and the facilities. The monitoring system, named "ARGUS", greatly contributes to stable gas supply to the customers of the above area.
Items of Monitoring Information
The monitoring system supplies us the following information.
- Operational information such as gas flow rate, and gas pressure
- Safety-related information such as earthquake
- Facility-related information such as power failure
unusual conditions will be immediately informed by alarm to the monitoring centers
