Gas
Application Technologies (Commercial, Industrial Use)
Outline
Osaka Gas has been promoting the development of high-performance gas engine for the cogeneration system. Through flame-visualization technology and CFD (computational fluid dynamics) technology applied to the diagnosis of combustion in gas engines, we are contributing to gas engine efficiency enhancement.

Characteristic
We have manufactured a gas engine, the part of which is made of a quartz glass, and visualized the combustion inside. Based on the information, observed characteristics data and CFD analysis of combustion, we have proposed and validated the combustion improvement techniques, and contributed to an enhancement of gas engine efficiency.
Future Tasks
Enhanced gas engine performance (efficiency) leads to improved power generation efficiency and economy and reduced carbon dioxide (CO2) emission, which have been social and economic demands. To satisfy these demands, Osaka Gas will continue to be committed to the efforts for substantiating a line of high-performance gas engines including those for cogeneration use.
Technical Term
Cogeneration: An energy system that utilizes electricity and thermal energy simultaneously by using natural gas as fuel.
