New Wind Power Plants Go into Service

Gas and Power Investment (GPI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Osaka Gas, and Sojitz Corporation started operation of their new wind power plants today in Wakayama Prefecture.

Hirogawa Myojin-yama Wind Power owned by GPI and Sojitz, 51% and 49% respectively, was established in October 2005 to own and operate the 16MW wind power plants (1MW X 16). After two years of construction and test operation, the plants went into service today. The projected power output from the plants is approximately 41GWh annually.

Hirogawa Myojin-yama is the second wind farm project owned and operated by the Osaka Gas Group, following Hayama project with 20MW capacity which went into operation in March 2006.
