Osaka Gas to cooperate with Sanyo Electric for development of residential PEFC

Osaka Gas has entered into an agreement today with Sanyo Electric to jointly develop a 1kW residential polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC). Under the agreement, Osaka Gas will transfer its fuel reforming technologies to Sanyo for joint development of a PEFC fueled by natural gas.

By combining the technologies of the two companies, i.e. Osaka Gas in fuel reforming and Sanyo in cell, control, and systemization technologies, it is expected that the commercialization of residential fuel cell will be accelerated.

Since its development of the compact, high-efficiency fuel reformer, Osaka Gas has been negotiating with manufacturers of PEFC both at home and abroad for a transfer of its technologies. The technological transfer to Sanyo follows the one for H Power in the United States.
